Welcome to Mrs. Youmans' page!




Hi!!  My name is Ashley Youmans, and I am so excited to be teaching 1st Grade here at Benson!  I have been teaching since 2008 and started my career in Itasca in 2019. I have previously taught in both Addison and Medinah.  Throughout my 16 years of teaching, I have taught 1st, 4th, 6th & 7th Grade Reading/Language Arts, along with ESL Support. Before coming to Benson, I taught 3rd grade at Franzen.     I completed my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University.  I have also completed my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an ELL endorsement from Concordia University.

 Outside of school,  I absolutely love spending time with my husband and our two children.  We enjoy going for walks, exploring new parks, and traveling to new places. I have always had a passion for teaching and helping all children reach their potential.  I love to challenge students to be curious and take chances when learning.  I strive to create a welcoming, engaging, safe, and collaborative learning community for your child to be successful in 1st Grade.  I am looking forward to working closely together to give your child the best foundation to learn and grow.
