About Us
Raymond Benson Primary School houses approximately 320 children in grades preschool, kindergarten, first, and second. It is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood next to Washington Park.
Benson was remodeled in 1990 under an Airport Improvement Program Soundproofing Grant and Life Safety project. In addition to being soundproofed, the building is air-conditioned and is a student centered learning space.
Recently, an addition was added to the building which provides state-of-the-art Kindergarten and Pre-K classrooms as well as a large, multi-use common space. The Media Center/Library was also renovated to provide space for both independent and collaborative learning.
The curriculum fosters the basic skills, reading, phonics, writing, spelling, composition, creative writing, mathematics, science, social studies, health, physical education, art, and music.
The District supports the use of technology as a tool for learning and instruction. Emphasis is given to the use of technology in the writing process across the curriculum at all grade levels.
