About Me:
Hi! My name is Ms. Mitchell.  I am excited to be teaching first grade! I have been teaching in Itasca District 10 since 1995. I completed my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Illinois State University. I have additionally earned a Masters Degree of Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University. Throughout my career in District 10, I have enjoyed creating and implementing a variety of programs and experiences for our students. I have participated in various leadership roles in the district, and it has been my honor to work with Itasca families while serving as the teacher rep of both the IPTO and D10 Education Foundation.  As someone who loves teaching, I have also had wonderful experiences as a presenter at national education conferences, as well as various school districts. Outside of school, I enjoy family time, travel, and Broadway shows. It is my goal to provide a safe learning environment for every child which is welcoming, collaborative, challenging, and provides a safe space to develop, learn, and make mistakes, while further developing critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. With these goals in mind, we are bound to have a fun and productive classroom full of growth, change, and love!
